Mission and vision
The NGO Generator was founded in 2001 by a group of young activists from Vranje with the primary aim of promoting and preserving art and culture with a focus on youth in multiethnic southern Serbia. Generator’s has worked hard in the past to break down cultural, national, ethnic, religious, and social barriers and worked on the issues that are important to building a healthy society today. We try to overcome negative attitudes inherited from the past by implementing our projects and bringing together people who would otherwise not meet one another. Since its foundation, Generator has had a wide array of experience working on a variety of topics in southern Serbia including democracy building, the development of civil society, intercultural dialogue, tolerance and anti-discrimination, peace building and the preservation and promotion of art and culture. Southern Serbia is the least developed region of Serbia, and Generator recognizes the need to create and organize a civil base to actively promote democracy through motivating and engaging youth of different background in creative activities, as well as building capacities of institutions that work with minorities.
Fields of work
Generator especially has expertise working with youth by using art-for-social change methodology in the field of human rights and minorities on local and international level.
